Hmm, the play opened last weekend (and ends this Sunday). It was interesting and I got to miss two days of school so bonus. As always the audience changed things, but not as much as I had thought it would. The kids laughed at the oddest spots, like Little John's black eye and it was a thrill to hear what the adults got that left the kids going *blink*. Friday was a treat, we had two school shows in the morning followed by our "official" opening night. In between shows I had a little time to kill so I went to Steller, met up with Anthea and we went to Barnes and Noble. We got shushed and one guy got fed up and moved which made me wince but I couldn't have gotten much quieter unless I started signing. Oh, that reminds me, Frank is fabulous and kind of a lech. I didn't feel the need to talk one night after the show so I just sat in the green room amused by the others. Sheep came quiet distressed and signed the only thing she knew, which left me very confused because the signs were mostly correct but the intent was all off. I corrected her and she repeated me. Frank came in and I broke the silence, "Ask Frank just in case, he knows more sign than I could ever hope to learn." "Wha-?" She signed 'I want your body' and he gave a mini lesson on how to say it with two different intentions. One straight forward, two guys comparing muscles at a gym. And the other, far more entertaining one sexually which was highly amusing because he signed it to the director as she came in leaving her very confused. The character he plays is in love with Marion, just one of the reasons why Guy hates Robin. It was vaguely disturbing to watch Frank in character hitting on Claire (also in character) back stage, disturbing but to be honest kinda hot. Guy is just such a badass and when you combine that with Frank when he's playing around it's mesmerizing.
Sunday after the matinee I asked if I could join some of the guys (Luke, Ryan, Fosse, Dust, and Ian) for a game of basketball. I was surprised that I wasn't picked last when we broke into teams. It was fun, I haven't played since eighth grade or so. I love how butch everyone gets when they play sports. Luke and Ryan told me to stop being so nice and actually cause a little damage and when Ryan got hit in the face and started bleeding he just shrugged it off and kept going. We won 11 - 8, there was talk of an all cast game, hopefully I'll join them.
The school week was short, for me especially since I took Monday as a sick day, attempting to head it off. Sadly that hasn't work, as long as I keep forcing water down my throat and pack a lot of Kleenex and cough drops I ought to survive. Everyone in the damn play is sick. Claire was almost hospitalized a few weeks back, Calani and Savanah had hacking coughs, Billy looked freaking miserable last week and Frank was hauling around a monster water bottle and an actual handkerchief. Any way, school. Classes weren't overly exciting. I had two essay tests today (and a vocab quiz) they weren't that dreadful. I love big classes if only to witness test days. Every ten feet you ran into a different study cluster, there was one big one blocking the hallway and another monopolizing the library, everyone calling out definitions and arguing whether "government expansion" means economic growth or more government influence over the market. Hopefully I didn't fail, I don't think so but you never know.
Prom is quickly approaching, as is day of silence and ren faire. All of which require elaborate outfits. While shopping for fabrics and looking over patterns my Mom just couldn't hack it, and so for the first time since I was fourteen we bought me a prom dress. It only took me an afternoon, which is obscenely short especially for someone my size. It's pretty cute and I laughed when I realized: My first prom I went in a bought red, sleeveless dress. Guess what I'm going in this time? Well the red is deeper and it's less plain but still.
What else to report? Apparently Bentley has resurfaced from her hermitage and though it has yet to affect me Anthea Darling is feeling the affects. Nothing major, just the typical fandom geekery and controlling/obsessive tendencies.
I'm sure there's more I could say but I still feel icky and I ought to get a little extra sleep before the show tomorrow. Good Night my Lovelies. ~J
