Mar. 6th, 2005 07:53 pmHmm, I've been busy. I've had a show to go to everyday this weekend. Friday night was spent at "Midsummer's" opening night gala. Wonderful show, I have to go see it again, the play-within-a-play made it though. Everyone surprised me, Billy and Betsy because I didn't know they were that good at acting (sure I've heard Billy was that good but I've never seen him act so I didn't know and I'd seen Betsy before and I wasn't impressed but she was great Friday night, she had the scorned/doting lover down), and Anthea because she pulled off the looks of loving devotion wonderfully. If you live in Anchorage and read this I would highly recommend seeing it, it shows at Cyrano's until April.
Last night I saw David Copperfield (I went to the 10:30 show and it was worth it). It was flashy and loud and more like a rock concert than a magic show. He was wearing an unbuttoned long sleeve shirt, T-shirt and jeans, not your usual magician flare. It was a good show, hockey at points, a very fake at others but I don't see how some of the things they did could have been planned. He chose volunteers by throwing Frisbees and bouncing silver balls into the audience. And some of the tricks just aren't physically possible, people don't move that fast. But I did see how he did do one of his tricks. He put a pickle into his pocket to use a minute later, his sleeve caught on his shirt so I noticed the movement.
Hugh, Jesse, Holly, Bethany and Katrina from West were there. They all said hi and we schmoozed for a few minutes after the show, they thought everyone was actors, I know at least two weren't plants, and at least three that were. I'm sad that I missed Margo's party, it was last night I thought it was next week, oh well there'll be others.
I don't know what it is but every time I see Hugh I don't 'see' him. It takes a few seconds for my brain to recognize the fact that he's there, it's like he has a glamour on, I'm starting to get really sick of it especially since I take a few steps back every damn time!
Today I went and saw 'Don Giovanni the puppet show'. It was good, not the best puppetry I've ever seen but it wasn't bad, and I did like some of the paraphrasing which I doubt you'd find in the real opera.
Overall not a bad weekend.
I'm looking forward to Sitka, not because of the classes, I mean sure I do love those but I miss Jenny. I miss having her as my roommate, I miss talking to her until midnight, I miss dancing in the lunch room, I miss the way we greet each other ever camp - like I'd seen her last week rather than last year. I just miss her.
I don't think I 'know' any of my friends. I love some of them, I like all of them, but I don't think I know them. Anthea after the play was complaining how people think she's innocent when she's really not. I know she isn't innocent but part of me feels that because she has such innocence in her eyes she has to have such innocence in her heart. I don't know any of them Anthea, Ellie, Ernie, Hugh, Cody, Jess, Ian (either of them), Paul, Sierra, Phil, I don't know them and I want to, I want to but I'm a little worried that if I truly got to know them we wouldn't be so close.
Well, those are worries for another night. Right now I have to look up disfiguring infections for MicroBio.
You have my love, my fondest wishes, and my warmest fuzzies. ~J
