Bad! )
Anyway, I've had a pretty fun week. I auditioned for Three Musketeers yesterday. I was the very last person to read and since I didn't have a piece I just opened up a book of Shakespeare until I came to a play I knew. I went up on stage, said my name and Stacia (who was timing us to keep us in line with the 1 minute max) yelled out "Next! Thank you!" I bowed and made to leave, followed by Block gesturing me back. The rest of the audition was spent 'falling down' for Glenn, the fight director.
Yesterday was also Culture Day at Steller. We had representatives from a dozen different people come in and talk about their native lands, or places they've visited, and how it differs from here. It was cool. I went to the Comparative Religions panel, which featured, a Hindu woman, a rep. of the Jewish faith, an Episcopal priest, a Zen Buddhist, and a Russian Orthodox priest. The session was too short to really get into a discussion but we got the basic overview of all the faiths, which I thought was cool. Of all of them the most joyful and good humored was the Buddhist monk, which inspired me to find out more about the faith. So today I sat down with Justin and had him start educating me on his faith/philosophy. They insist it isn't a religion, it's a philosophy/way of life. I like what I've heard so far, it gives a perspective that I've never gotten from any other religion. And it isn't about getting into heaven or getting resurrected, it's about finding truth. Pain and suffering is due to believing falsehoods to be truths and not knowing the essential truth of reality. I'll learn more next week.
Hmm, what else?
I auditioned for Robin Hood tonight, it was my first non-school audition since I was ten and it was really fun. Instead of reading for Lady Marian or some other "young ladies" part, I read for the only adult role on the list. And I liked it better that way, she seemed more honest, and certainly I understood her better. But the thing about the audition today and yesterday is I went into both expecting to fail, expecting to make an ass of myself and get drummed out of the theatre, but it went fairly well at both, I was pleasantly surprised.
And now, since I have to drive Mom to jury duty tomorrow, I have to get some sleep. If I forgot anything I'll write more on a later date (I have pages worth of stuff from the auditions tonight). Fuzz ~J
PS, just so I remember. *We had to practice walking and being escorted with period flair, my partner was Eberhart the evil jackass. *We had to dance, Eberhart, still my partner, kept fucking up and I got a sick twist of delight each time *I found out Frank is hard of hearing and knows a crud load of sign language, and he has agreed to teach me sometime. *Shane let me join the Blue court as a tutor to his daughters, possibly, we're still working out the details *I talked to Frank and Billy about setting up a fight between the Green and Red guard *I feel accomplished and proud, even though I have no right to be, it's not like I did anything that special. However, as a credit to my acting ability I was able to give off the appearance of flirting with Eberhart without crawling out of my skin or kneeing him, that impressed the heck out of me. Sleep!
