I've had a surprisingly good few days. I've been feeling just shy of dead and I've been perking right up, I wonder why. Well, a few things have happened (most especially today) that have been making me laugh.
Yesterday late into rehearsal (we start next Wed. by the way) a few cops showed up at the back of the auditorium (being an innocent I didn't even think about anyone doing anything worthy of police prosecution - oh that's another thing that's pissing me off, I'm more innocent than ANTHEA! this must be changed! I need someone to ruin me, and quick) just watching us run through the 'Mob song' over and over. At the end of rehearsal I went out into the foyer and heard the cops talking to each other: "Do you think this door goes to the balcony?" "I don't know"
Me: "Actually that goes downstairs to the dressing room"
"Oh, what about that door?"
"That's the prop room."
"Oh."
"So what are you guys here for anyway?"
"We're going to be training some new drug-sniffing dogs."
"Oh cool. Well, I gotta go, bye."
"Bye"
After I went back inside all of us who were left (mainly the leads) were just talking and hanging out. BettyRay (the director) said: "Everyone, that's all for today so you may want to go home. The nice police men will be training some new dogs in here and if you don't want them to be - sniffing all of your . . . places I would recommend you leave." Oh my god, it was like roaches with the light on.
Denya (Belle) holding the nearest door to the outside, waving her arm shouting "Move it people, movie it, move it!" Twenty seconds or less, people on fire don't move that fast.
It was great.
Today was very good as far as arts. Julie (a senior at Steller, nice girl, we aren't really 'friends' though) asked me if I had ever thought about being in RenFair, apparently she's in red court and thinks I ought to join. I think I will.
After that I did pretty good during 'Acting' dress rehearsal, everyone clapped, but I didn't get to finish it all, I need to practice for people more. Oh, before I even got started, we were doing it in the MPR and there is a door right off the stage. My character comes storming into her room so I thought I'd use the door. I got on stage and introduced myself then I walked through the door took a breath and then heard catcalls and cheering, apparently they thought that was my monologue.
Because of the snow aftershool activities were canceled for the district, but I stopped by anyway. We got the costumes in! Oh the look cool. I can't wait to see everyone in them.
I helped Hugh (Beast) on the Machine which is fun, I like working with my hands. We got to talking, nothing in depth or anything but he started by asking "So why didn't you try out for Music Man last year?" I recall I started babbling something about joining DDF just this year or something. Then he asked/ told me to try out for the musicals next year. He guarantees I will get if not lead female then supporting. "I doubt it."
"No, really. You have a great voice -" "Thanks" "And you're a good actor." "Nah, I can't act worth crap, but I can lie pretty good." "Oh don't be modest, you know you're good." (My mature comeback was to stick out my tongue) "And everyone thinks they're horrible." "You just said not to be modest."
I like him, and most of the leads seem very cool, well most of the guys anyway. I will probably never hear from any of them after the show next week but maybe I'll look into it.
Anything else . . . I think I may be coming to a head a with Erin soon, a very anti-climactic one. I plan on making peace with her, for Anthea's sake and for my own, if not for Erin's.
I think life may be getting better. Hopefully. Much Love ~ J
